We are four freshmen from Pepperdine University and are taking a class called The Call of Service Learning.
Alison Aten is an 18 year old art and advertising major from Grant, Nebraska. Ali's biggest role model is her 15 year old friend, Jacob Kuskie. Jacob was born with a congenital heart defect and has been in and out of hospitals all his life. He has endured many major surgeries, the most recent being a heart transplant in September of 1998. Ali admires Jacob's strength, courage, and determination through all of his struggles.
Ashley Davis is an 18 year old business major from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ashley admires her older sister, Kristen. Her sister has always supported Ashley in all of her endeavors no matter how great or small. Kristen is a light in Ashley's life that outshines many others. Ashley admires her for her honesty, integrity, and most of all, for her ability to formulate strong opinions and beliefs.
Megan McDonnell is a 19 year old public relations major from Pueblo, Colorado. Megan's most influential role model is her mother, Nancy. Megan admires her mother for many reasons. She put herself through college to become a registered nurse, she worked 3 jobs to support their family when Megan was little, and she has always encouraged Megan to reach for her dreams. Megan hopes to be just like her mother someday.
Jane Wallingford is a 19 year old public relations major from Columbus, Ohio. Jane most admires her 7th grade English teacher, Mrs. Potter. Mrs. Potter supports Jane through good and bad times. She has always held high hopes for Jane and helped her gain self-confidence. Jane still keeps in contact with Mrs. Potter, and every day Jane's respect and admiration for her grows.
